Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the richest endowment body in the world, has decided to construct three more Lord Sri Venkateswara temples in India.

The upcoming temples would be constructed in Andhra Pradesh’s proposed capital Amaravati, Chhattisgarh capital Raipur and Gujarat capital Gandhinagar, according to a report by TOI.

The governments of Chhattisgarh and Gujarat have agreed to donate land for the proposed temples while Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have allocated lands in state capital cities, the report said.

“The TTD has decided to expand its activities to new places. To begin with, we will construct a grand temple in AP’s proposed capital city. The TTD has written to the state government seeking land in or around Amaravati,” TTD executive officer D Sambasiva Rao was quoted by TOI as saying.

“The TTD will bear the entire cost of the project,” he added.

According to a senior official from TTD, these temples will be of great help to the devotees, who cannot make it to Tirumala for the darshan, the report added.

The upcoming temples will add to the three temples being built at Kurushetra, Delhi and Kanyakumari. Currently, Sri Balaji temples and Balaji Bhavans are already run in Chennai, Bangalore and Hardwar.

The total number of pilgrims to visit Tirumala per day is about 50,000, while during weekends and holidays it goes up to one lakh.
